8/10/21 Ecclesiastes Study 3: overview
I looked at the open-ended questions in Ecclesiastes (below). In fact, it was interesting to me that the questions Qoheleth asked are all in the first half of the book - another hint that he really does know the answers but wants to make us think about them! 1.3 What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun? 1:10 Is there a thing of which it is said, “See, this is new”? 2:12 For what can the man do who comes after the king? 2:15 Then I said in my heart, “What happens to the fool will happen to me also. Why then have I been so very wise?” 2:18 I hated all my toil in which I toil under the sun, seeing that I must leave it to the man who will come after me, 19 and who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? 2:22 What has a man from all the toil and striving of heart with which he toils beneath the sun? 3:9 What gain has the worker from his toil? 3:21 Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upwar...
